Common questions

How do I join an event?

Tap the link the host shared with you, or open Tally and type the six-letter join code into the "Got a code?" box on the home screen. You'll be asked to make a quick profile — a name and an avatar — and then you're in.

Does Tally handle the money?

No. Never. Tally does not accept, hold, transfer or process any money, and takes no share of any prize. Entry fees and prizes change hands directly between the people involved, in the real world. Tally only records who has paid, the same way a note on a whiteboard would.

Is Tally a gambling app?

No. Tally is a scorekeeping tool. It contains no game of chance — no wheel, no dice, no cards — offers no odds, and settles no bets. The games happen on real tables in the real world; Tally just keeps the score. You must be 18 or older to use it.

I logged the wrong score. Can I fix it?

Scores are never edited or deleted — that's what stops arguments at the end of the night. Just log the correct number again; the newest one is what counts. If something needs putting right, the host can post a correction, which everyone can see along with the reason.

What if I lose signal during a night?

Log your score as normal. Tally saves it on your phone and sends it automatically as soon as you're back on signal — you'll see a note saying so. Nothing is lost.

How do I delete my account or get a copy of my data?

Both are in the app, under Profile:

  • Download my data — a full copy of everything Tally holds about you.
  • Delete my account — permanently removes your account and personal data.

Deleting your account also deletes any events you host. If you'd rather we did it for you, email us from the address on your account.

Playing responsibly

Tally is a scoreboard, not a casino — and it will never suggest you put more money in. Only ever stake what you'd be happy to lose, agree the terms with your friends up front, and never chase a bad night.

If gambling is stopping being fun for you or someone you play with, these services are free, confidential and independent of Tally:

About us

Tally is an independent app for keeping score at real-world social competitions.
